Called to the Harvest
The Vision
Spirit of Fire
Evangelistic Ministries was called into existence by our Lord
Jesus in April 1985. A group
of people were gathered for
prayer. In the midst of a vision of flames seen by those in the
room, a vision was given to Rev. Jerry Begin of a field of weeds
with a silo in the distance. The hand of God reached down and
pushed apart the weeds. There were small sprouts growing underneath the weeds. They began to grow taller and flames of
fire appeared over each sprout of wheat. As they grew taller
than the weeds, an angel appeared with a sickle and began
harvesting the wheat, getting it ready to be stored in the
silo. It was at that time the ministry was born, given the name
Spirit of Fire from Isaiah 4:4 that refers to the Spirit of
judgment and of fire (NIV). It is a call to holiness and
purging all that is not of God.
Healing
the Brokenhearted With the Word and Love of Jesus
God has given Spirit of Fire an assignment to restore and heal
the brokenhearted, setting the captives free, with the love and
power of His Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus, the Christ.
We have obeyed that call in numerous ways during our 26 years
of existence with outreaches that have touched the community and
the world. Various seasons in our history at Spirit of
Fire have included a free clothing market, a year round clothing and
furniture warehouse, food ministry,
Christian counseling,
pregnancy center, baby ministry, teen ministry, community
involvement, training schools of ministry and healing, healing
rooms, and evangelism teams.
This fall our
pastor, Rev. Jerry Begin, went home to be with our Lord. Rev.
Jane Anderson, who has been with him in the ministry for over 20
years, is now the pastor of Spirit of Fire. The call of the
ministry remains the same. Our heart is to reach the
brokenhearted and restore them to God’s perfect will for their
lives. We recognize the timelessness and value of the training
and teachings Pastor Jerry provided to Christians around the
world, and we will continue to have those resources available on
this website and at our church in Lewiston, Maine. As has
always been true of Spirit of Fire, the ways we serve Jesus are
ever changing but always empowered and led His Holy Spirit. We
continue to serve our Lord by caring for His people and
preparing His Bride until He returns. Please visit us at our
